This is our yearly project. We teach school children to make Ganesh idols from shadu clay by their own hands. Children enthusiastically prepare the idols & we guide them to paint the idol by haldi, kumkum after it gets dry. We tell them that idols made from plaster of paris are not water soluble. Also, the paints used to make idols are oil paints which consist of highly poisonous chemicals and heavy metals that cause water pollution. Hence, the idols made of plaster of paris and chemical substances cause harm to the environment.
