President Blog

When I look back at how my journey with Rotary began, it was thanks to my friends Anjali Mehendale and Manisha Nehete. They encouraged me several times to attend a 'Know Rotary' session. Eventually, I was invited as a speaker. During the fellowship time, I learned about Rotary's impactful work and realized that this was what I had been searching for since my college days.

In college, I was a part of the National Service Scheme (NSS), which brought me joy and mental peace through social activities. Due to prior commitments, I couldn't attend the 'Know Rotary' session myself, so I sent my husband Ashish and my son Manas. They were equally impressed, and we immediately decided to join Rotary Club of Pune Pristine.

My journey as a Rotarian began with many new terms and topics that were unfamiliar to me. However, my inquisitive nature and love for learning drove me to ask questions and understand more. The following year, I was asked to be the Project Chair. Although I was unsure of what the role entailed, I agreed, knowing I would learn along the way.

The next year, I was offered the position of Membership Director. Understanding that this was another opportunity to learn and make new friends, I accepted the role. The year after that, I was asked to be the Club Secretary. Again, I saw this as a chance to grow and said, "Yes."

Each year brought new lessons, connections, and opportunities to serve society. There were challenging moments, but my joy came from the activities and the learning experiences, not from the obstacles. When asked if I would be the President for the next Rotary year, I hesitated, knowing the responsibility it entailed. I felt I needed more time to learn, so I deferred my acceptance to the following year.

In preparation, I immersed myself in learning and gaining the necessary knowledge. Despite my relatively short tenure as a Rotarian, I am committed to giving my best as President. I believe in the motto, "We, not Me," and will uphold this throughout my presidential year. I welcome feedback and suggestions, as I am always in the learning mode and eager to improve.

Thank you for your trust and support.
